30 days deadline for govt to bring Husain Haqqani back to Pakistan

The Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered government authorities to take steps to bring former ambassador to the United States (US) Hussain Haqqani back to Pakistan within 30 days.

Director General of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Bashir Ahmed Memon, who appeared before the court today, said that the judicial magistrate had handed them the arrest warrants that were issued by the court earlier. He assured the court that the warrants will be sent to Haqqani’s residence in Karachi and Washington.

Chief Justice (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar warned that the SC will not accept any excuses after the deadline has passed. Memon told the CJP that they had to follow a procedure in order to issue red warrants.
