40 Afghan soldiers killed, 24 others wounded in bomb attack on Afghan Army base

A bomb attack on Afghan Nation Army base in Maiwand district in Kandahar killed at least 40 Afghan soldiers and 24 others wounded on Wednesday night, Tribune reported.

According to sources, the two suicide attackers detonated their explosive-laden Humvee while other insurgents stormed the base.

“First one of the suicide bombers detonated his explosives with a Humvee vehicle and the other insurgents opened fire on security forces,” a source told TOLO news. “The base did not fall to the Taliban but while the clash was going on foreign troops carried out an airstrike which killed 10 Taliban insurgents.”
