ISLAMABAD (PAK TIMES): An anti-corruption court has directed the authorities on Thursday to present former ousted-convicted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday in the National Accountability Bureau’s Al-Azizia and Flagship Investment corruption references against Sharif family members.
During the hearing of the reference headed by accountability court’s Justice Mohammad Arshad Malik, NAB’s Deputy Prosecutor General Sardar Muzaffar told that Islamabad High Court has transferred both references filed against the Sharif family members to your court.
Former ousted-convicted PM Nawaz Sharif is facing sentence in Avenfield reference while his sons Hassan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz have been declared absconders as they failed to appear before the accountability court, he added.
Deputy prosecutor general of NAB added that the former Prime Minister was not presented before the anti-corruption court after his arrest due to security concerns.
Afterward, the Accountability Court also ordered Panama Joint Investigation Team (JIT)—formed by the Supreme Court— head Wajid Zia to attend the hearing on Monday.
