Babar Awan submits resignation from Senate

ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistan People’s Party leader Babar Awan on Thursday tendered his resignation from the Senate, ARY News reported. 

Mr. Awan submitted his resignation letter to Chairman Raza Rabbani by post saying that he was resigning on his own freewill and did not provide any specific reason. “I offer my resignation from House of Federation under Article 64(1) of the constitution,” he wrote.

Awan wrote that it was a honour to be part of the most esteemed Upper House of Parliament, and appreciated the parliamentary achievements of the respected members of the house.

“I hope that under your leadership the Upper House of Parliament will protect the rights of weaker classes, backward areas, minorities and women,” he said to the chairman senate.
