Ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s son-in-law Captain (r) Safdar on Monday has been shifted to Adiala Jail for one year after a brief appearance in accountability court.

The convict was taken to the jail amid tight security.

Captain (r) Safdar on Sunday had surrendered after which National Accountability Bureau (NAB) team arrested him from Liaquat Bagh.

Safdar’s name was also placed on the blacklist, which means he would be barred from leaving the country.

An accountability court on Friday sentenced Nawaz Sharif to 10 years, Maryam Nawaz to 7 years and Captain Safdar to 1 year in prison for corrupt practices linked to his family’s purchase of upscale London flats.
