Chief Justice takes suo moto notice of wedding halls construction at Punjab University

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, on Monday, took suo motu notice of wedding halls construction within the vicinity of the University of Punjab.

A two-judge bench under the supervision of Chief Justice Saqib Nisar was hearing the case at the Lahore registry of the Supreme Court.

“On what basis have commercial construction been permitted to carry out within the vicinity of the varsity,” Chief Justice Nisar crossly questioned.

The petition was initially filed by a citizen against the commercial construction in the varsity, CJP Nisar turned the petition into a suo motu notice.
