Arshad Malik, a Judge of an Accountability Court reserved the verdict in the Flagship Investment and Al-Azizia Steel Mills references against the former PM Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday.

The court had rejected Nawaz Sharif’s plea to extend the trial for a week to present more documents. The accountability court has announced to announce the judgment on December 24.

As per the details, 22 witnesses recorded their statements in the Al-Azizia and 16 witnesses deposed in the Flagship reference.

Nawaz Sharif, former three-time Prime Minister of Pakistan did not defend himself in both references. He contended that he is not related to the business. “The business is in the name of his children who are adult and independent,” he took the stance.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) contended that Nawaz Sharif is the real owner of the business. “Huge amounts were transferred from children’s companies to Nawaz Sharif,” it stated.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) requested the court to sentence Nawaz Sharif under section 9A(5) for making assets beyond income.

Nawaz Sharif’s sons Hassan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz are co-accused in the case and have been declared absconders in the case.
