Dr Shahid Masood will be punished according to the law: Chief Justice Pakistan

The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday rejected the reply submitted by anchorperson Dr Shahid Masood in case pertaining to rape and murder case of minor seven-year-old Zainab Ansari in Kasur.

A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Mian Saqib Nisar heard the suo motu case pertaining to the anchorperson’s claim.

In his reply submitted in the apex court the anchorperson had expressed repentance over what he had said in his program.

In today’s proceedings, the CJP remarked that the anchorperson’s reply was not acceptable and said the time for an apology has passed now.

Justice Saqib Nisar observed that Dr Shahid Masood will be punished according to the law.

The court also asked the additional attorney general for how long the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) can ban a channel or the anchorperson.
