Drinking water being supplied to Rawalpindi and Islamabad is not drinkable

ISLAMABAD (PAK TIMES): The people live in the twin cities of Pakistan (Islamabad and Rawalpindi) are being provided contaminated water to drink, the Wapda Chief, Muzammil Hussain on Tuesday told the judges of Supreme Court.

The Wapda Chief made this disclosure during the briefing on dams’ construction at the apex court of Pakistan.

Mian Saqib Nisar, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court remarked during the meeting, that the people of Pakistan are ready for the construction of dams. In this regard, people have donated Rs1 billion so far. The Chief Justice wishes to collect an amount of Rs474 billion.

Mian Saqib Nisar was heading a committee meeting regarding construction of Mohmand Diamer Bhasha dams.

Other Supreme Court judges including Justice Umar Ata Bandial, Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Munib Akhtar attended the meeting.

While briefing the meeting, the Wapda Chairman Muzammil Hussain disclosed that the country is passing through a serious water crisis, adding that the drinking water being supplied to Rawalpindi and Islamabad is not drinkable.
