DUBAI (Daily Dunya) – Authorities sealed a restaurant in United Arab Emirates’ Umm al-Quwain state after recovering huge amount of naswar from it.
The substance is considered toxic in Dubai and the authorities have banned its sale and production in the emirate. A team of economic development department raided the restaurant after receiving complaints that it was selling naswar.
“The tip-off was verified, and restaurant staffers were put under close surveillance until the inspectors stormed the outlet and extracted some pieces of the contraband from it,” said Saif Salem, head of inspection section at the department, as reported by Khaleej Times.
The shopkeeper was selling the naswar in small pieces for Dh3 each.
“The department bans selling this item and will penalise any outlet or individual involved in selling it because of its harmful impact on health,” explained Salen.
