Former judge and wife sent to jail for one year in Tayyaba torture case

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday sent former additional district and sessions judge (ADSJ) Raja Khurram Ali Khan and his wife to one year in prison in the Tayyaba torture case.

Both were arrested from the courtroom after the judge announced the verdict reserved on March 27.

Justice Aamer Farooq also handed down a fine of Rs50,000 each to the judge and his spouse for torturing the child maid. The accused persons had pleaded not guilty.

The incident occurred on December 27, 2016, and received widespread media coverage. The case was registered in I-9 police station.
