The review petitions filed by the convicted members of the Sharif Family in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the NAB court’s verdict were accepted to the regular hearing on Friday.
After the acceptance of review petitions for regular hearing, the Islamabad High Court has issued an order to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and summoned all the record of Avenfield corruption reference filed by the anti-corruption watchdog against the Sharifs.
As per the sources, the court has adjourned the hearing and the next hearing of the petitions will be held after the vacations in the July’s last week from the available bench.
In the review petitions, the lawyer of the Sharif Family, Khawaja Haris mentioned that the conviction of the accused by the Accountability Court is against the law.
The court remarked that the stance of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the corruption reference will also be heard with the arguments of the defense lawyer.
Mr. Haris plead the Islamabad High Court to grant the bail to his client Mr. Nawaz Sharif until the high court’s verdict on the review petitions is announced, he further added that all the three accused are ready to submit their surety bonds to get bail from the custody.
The Islamabad High Court also ordered the Nation Accountability Bureau (NAB) to appoint officers for its assistance in the hearing of the Avenfield case.
