The review petitions filed by Sharifs in Islamabad High Court against the NAB court’s decision in Avenfield corruption reference will be heard today by a two-member bench of the high court.
As per the reports, the appeals were submitted by the former ousted Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz, and his son-in-law Captain (R) Safdar against their conviction.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Gul Hassan Aurangzeb will take up the appeals and the bail pleas at 12:00 pm today (Tuesday).
On July, 17, the high court had issued a notice to the NAB on the Sharifs’ plea seeking the suspension of NAB’s court decision that sent Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, and Captain (R) Safdar to jail for ten years, seven years, and one year, respectively.
Earlier, the court had rejected the bail pleas at that time and issued a notice the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to submit its reply to the petitions filed by the Sharifs against their conviction.
The court had also directed all the concerned authorities to present the complete record of the Avenfield corruption reference, filed by NAB, on the next hearing in the high court.
