Implementation of Panama’s verdict doesn’t mean I accept it, Nawaz Sharif

LAHORE: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif said on Friday that he had implemented the decision of the apex court without delay but that didn’t mean that he had accepted the decision to disqualify him.

Addressing a large gathering of lawyers at the Lawyer’s Convention at Aiwan-e-Iqbal, the former prime minister said that he had always been fighting the case of democracy and the nation.

“My meeting here with you is also linked to the case that I am fighting for democracy,” he said.

Nawaz Sharif said that some people stated that he did not get along with anyone in particular. He said that it could be possible he lacked the quality to build cordial relations with others.

“But what about all the other prime ministers? Did they also lack the quality to get along with everyone else?” he asked.

Nawaz Sharif paid tribute to the crowd assembled to hear him speak and said that the Lawyer’s Movement was one which had brought about many benefits for the people of the country.

“The real purpose of the Lawyer’s Movement was to free the judiciary from the shackles of dictatorship,” he said.

Nawaz spoke about how he had been dismissed three times after he had been elected as the country’s prime minister.
