ISLAMABAD (PAK TIMES): While taking U-turn, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has announced not to support Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) candidate Shehbaz Sharif during the elections for the post of Prime Minister in the National Assembly.

While talking to anchorperson, the leader of the Pakistan People’s Party Chaudhry Manzoor said that the decision not to support Shehbaz Sharif during Prime Minister Polls was taken three days ago.

The Pakistan People’s Party will also stay away from the election of Punjab Assembly speaker and deputy speaker as it will neither vote for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate nor for the candidate nominated by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.

It is pertinent to mention here that the newly-elected members of 15th National Assembly (MNAs) will elect new Prime Minister on 17 August (Friday).

The leading party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has fielded its chairman Imran Khan for this slot whereas joint opposition provided the name of PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif.

The candidates can submit the nomination papers by 02:00 PM on Friday, while scrutiny of the forms would be completed by 03:00 PM on Thursday. The nomination papers could be obtained from the National Assembly Secretariat.
