ISLAMABAD: Bilal Rasool, a member of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) which probed the allegations of impropriety against Sharif family, is getting threats, ARY News reported on Wednesday.
According to ARY News Lahore Bureau Chief Arif Hameed Bhatti, Bilal Rasool of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), who was part of the six-member JIT is getting threats.
Bilal Rasool was the member of Panmagate JIT formed on the orders of Supreme Court of Pakistan, which included Amer Aziz of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Wajid Zia from FIA, Irfan Naeem Mangi from NAB, Brig Muhammad Nauman Saeed from ISI and Brig Kamran Khurshid from the MI.
The six-member JIT was set up in May by the Supreme Court with the mandate to probe the Sharif family for allegedly failing to provide the trail of money used to buy properties in London in 1990s. It has also probed several serving and former officials in connection with the case.
The team submitted its fourth and final report to the Supreme Court on July 10 and it recommended the apex court to file a reference against the prime minister and his two sons under NAB Ordinance.
The court also ordered that the JIT members should be provided the job security as well. “The families of the JIT members should be provided absolute security,” the apex court ordered the concerned authorities.
It is pertinent to mention here that PML-N had objected upon Bilal Rasool’s inclusion in the investigation team citing the reason that he is the maternal nephew of Mian Azhar, a political opponent and that his wife is a PTI member.
