Are there any judges in the country who will hold a dictator like Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf accountable, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, who has recently been disqualified by the top court, asked on on Monday.
“Is there any court which will hold former dictators responsible for crimes like breaking up the country accountable for their crimes,” Sharif told reporters in Islamabad.
In response to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan’s allegations, the former PM said he did not intend to exert pressure on the judiciary and he was traveling by GT Road from Islamabad to Lahore only because he wanted to go home.
Sharif, who stepped down as the prime minister when the Supreme Court disqualified him under Article 62 for not being honest and trustworthy, said only he was aware of how he managed to survive as the premier for four years.
“If one state institution will not respect another, how will we run the country?” he added.
