Justice Tassaduq nominated as ad hoc judge in International Court of Justice

The government of Pakistan has nominated Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani as ad hoc judge in International Court of Justice (ICJ) regarding Kulbhushan Jadhav case.

Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakariya has told that he notified ICJ about the development recently. Justice Jillani had served as Supreme Court Chief Justice of Pakistan from 11th December 2013 to 5th July 2014.

According to Radio Pakistan, Zakariya said the procedures of the International Court of Justice allow a party to nominate a Judge Ad hoc in circumstances where there is no judge of the court that has that party s nationality and currently, there is no judge of the court that has Pakistani nationality; whereas Judge Bhandari from India sits as a judge of the court.
