ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s daughter Maryam Nawaz Sharif has arrived at the Federal Judicial Academy to answer the questions of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing the money laundering allegations against the Sharif family.
Maryam Nawaz arrived at the JIT secretariat amid tight security with an entourage of eight vehicles. Her spouse Capt (retied) Muhammad Safdar and her brothers, Hussain Nawaz and Hassan Nawaz, as well as PML-N leaders, including Mariam Aurangzeb, the minister of State for Information, accompanied her to the JIT secretariat.
The probe headed by FIA additional director Wajid Zia will record her statement with regard to the allegations of money laundering against the first family stemming from the Panama Papers.
She is the ninth member of the family to be summoned by the JIT for interrogation with regard to the Panama Papers probe.
The law enforcement agencies have made special security arrangements as personnel of paramilitary force including frontier constabulary have been deployed in the vicinity of the JIT secretariat and along the route. The roads leading to the premises have also been cordoned off.
