PAK TIMES: The people of Pakistan are celebrating Independence Day today (Tuesday) with renewed resolve to work with the spirit of Pakistan Movement to make the country a true Islamic welfare state.
The day was started with 31-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salute in the provincial capitals. Prayers were offered for the security and progress of the beloved country and wellbeing of the people of Pakistan.
The national flag will be hoisted at all important public and private buildings.
An important feature of the celebrations of the Independence Day would be a national flag hoisting ceremony at Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad. President of Pakistan, Mamnoon Hussain would be the chief guest on the occasion.
At 8:59 in the today’s morning, sirens sounded and the moving traffic came to a halt as the mark of national solidarity.
President Mamnoon Hussain and caretaker Prime Minister retired Justice Nasirul Mulk will unfurl the national flag and the participants would sing the national anthem together. The President will also address the ceremony on the auspicious occasion.
