ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif left for Maldives on a three-day official visit on Tuesday morning.
He is visiting the country on the invitation of Maldivian President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz is also accompanying him.
The Prime Minister will be Chief Guest at the celebrations of 52nd Independence Day of Maldives being celebrated tomorrow.
He will also hold official talks with Maldivian President.
A number of MoUs and agreements will be signed during the visit for cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
“Pakistan attaches high importance to its relations with the Maldives which are characterized by cordiality, mutual respect, and commonality of interests,” the Foreign Office said.
