ISLAMABAD (PAK TIMES): Ousted former Prime Minister of Pakistan and the supremo of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Nawaz Sharif appeared before an Accountability Court on Wednesday in Al-Azizia Steel Mill and Flagship Investment references filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against Sharif family members.

As per the details, the judge of the NAB court Arshad Malik heard the case instead of Muhammad Bashir after Islamabad High Court (IHC) two-member bench approved Nawaz Sharif’s request for transferring the remaining two references to the other court.

During the hearing occasion, high security was ensured as Nawaz Sharif was taken to the Accountability Court in an armoured vehicle while 200 personnel were deployed around the court’s premises.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif among other party leaders also arrived at the NAB court to show solidarity with convicted Nawaz Sharif.

In Avenfield reference, Nawaz Sharif was awarded 11-year jail sentence while his daughter Maryam Nawaz was awarded seven-year jail sentence and son-in-law Capt (rtd) Safdar one-year.
