Prosecutor in Naqeebullah murder case excuses himself after threats

KARACHI: Suspended SSP Rao Anwar and other accused in the extrajudicial killing case of Naqeebullah Mehsud, appeared before the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) here, on Monday, where a new prosecutor has been appointed in the case.

The former prosecutor of the case Ali Raza has exempted himself from pleading the case after receiving threats, ARY News reported.

Sindh law department has appointed Nazeer Bhangora as the new prosecutor in the case.

The court reserved its verdict over the prosecution objections related to the transfer of accused SSP Rao Anwar to sub-jail.

The court adjourned the hearing of the case till June 6.

The counsels will present their arguments before the court on the bail plea of Rao Anwar in the next hearing of the case.
