The Ministry of Information on Wednesday withdrew its decision to lease out Radio Pakistan headquarters after the protest of employees.

As per details garnered, the notification was issued to withdraw a letter announcing plans to shift the headquarters of the Pakistan Broad­casting Corporation (PBC) and give its existing premises on a long-term lease.

The letter was withdrawn after Radio Pakistan employees protested against the proposed move and their representatives later held talks with Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry. The Radio Pakistan building is located in the Red Zone, a stone’s throw from the Prime Minister’s Office.

Earlier today, Radio Pakistan Employees started to march towards Parliament House against government’s decision of leasing Radio Pakistan building. The police started baton-charge over the protesting employees, soon after they started to march towards the Parliament House against the government’s decision.
