LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has accepted the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) petition for hearing on Monday, seeking disqualification of CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif over alleged violation of oath as member of the Punjab Assembly and making unlawful business.
The petition was submitted by Babar Awan on behalf of PTI chief Imran Khan named Shahbaz Sharif and the Election Commission of Pakistan as respondents. Justice Shahid Karim of the Lahore High Court will begin hearing of the case today (Tuesday).
Imran alleged that Shahbaz Sharif took oath as member of the provincial legislative assembly and head of the cabinet but he failed to live up to his oath.
“The oath administered by respondent No 1 (Shahbaz Sharif) enjoins upon him to be sagacious, righteous, non-profligate, honest and amen. However, Mr Shahbaz Sharif respondent did violate his oath and preferred his personal interest on national interest by abuse of his influence and through his official conduct a well as by misuse of his official decisions,” read the petition.
