The Supreme Court on Monday ordered not to withdraw security for those individuals who have been facing threats.

While heading a two-judge bench hearing the suo moto case against the provision of additional security to VIPs, CJP remarked that he didn’t want to put anyone’s life in danger and ordered to provide security to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif as per laws.

He said it is for the law enforcement agencies to determine whether a person needs security personnel or not.

Justice Saqib Nisar further ordered all the provincial governments to devise a formula in this regard.

Earlier, the CJP had directed inspector-generals of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, and Islamabad to take back security protocols from people who don’t have privilege. The chief justice had set a deadline of 24 hours for the inspector generals to implement the directives.
