Supreme Court ordered to stop recounting of votes in NA-131 Lahore

LAHORE (PAK TIMES): The apex court of the country ordered to stop recounting process of votes in Lahore’s important constituency NA-131 on Wednesday.

The Supreme Court of Pakistan has passed the ordered while suspending the Lahore High Court’s verdict of vote counting.

Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan had filed an appeal in the Supreme Court against the high court’s decision. During the hearing, the Chief Justice of Pakistan gave remarks that there is no need of any recounting the NA-131 constituency Lahore.

During the hearing of the appeal, Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan said that that the hearing of such matters comes under the jurisdiction of Election Commission of Pakistan.

A day before, the Lahore High Court had ordered recounting of the votes in entire NA-131 constituency Lahore while hearing a plea filed by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader and former Federal Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique.

Former minister took the stance that the hurdles are being established in the process of recounting of votes despite the order of recounting.
