Three people were killed and nine injured in clash between two Sunni sects

Three people were killed and nine injured when a clash broke out between two Sunni sects in Jani Burira village located in Kot Digi in Khairpur District, DawnNews reported on Thursday.

A gun battle broke out between the members of two rallies — one of which was being held to mark Eid Miladun Nabi — in the vicinity of the city’s Hussainabad Police Station, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Azfar Maheser told DawnNews.

The area has been cordoned off by police and Rangers officials.

Those killed have been identified as Mushtaq Ahmed, Abdul Latif and Zulfiqar Buriro. The deceased and the injured have been shifted to a local hospital.

Director General Health Services Sindh Akhlaq Ahmed Khan has confirmed to Dawn that three bodies and seven injured have been brought to Khairpur District Headquarters Hospital. The injured are being managed, he said.
