UNITED NATIONS: The UN Security Council has condemned “in the strongest terms” Monday’s deadly terrorist attack in Lahore, and called for holding those responsible accountable.

In a press statement issued Monday afternoon, the 15-member Council reiterated that “any acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable, regardless of their motivation, wherever, whenever and by whomsoever committed” and underscored the need to bring perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of these reprehensible acts to justice and to cooperate actively with the Pakistani government and all other relevant authorities in this regard.

The council members also expressed their sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims as well as to the government of Pakistan and wished a speedy and full recovery to those who were injured.

Earlier in the day, UN Secretary-General also “strongly” condemned the terrorist attack in Lahore.
