US would try to work with Pakistan in Afghanistan: Mattis

The Defense Secretary of the United States James Mattis said the United States of the America would try to work with Pakistan to end the terrorism in Afghanistan.

During the House Armed Services Committee hearing Mattis said, “We need to try to make this strategy work with them and through this Pakistanis, and if we fail after our best efforts, the President of the United States is prepared to take the steps which are necessary.”

The Defense Secretary of the United States said, he would be traveling to Islamabad (Pakistan) soon but did not give more details on this.

When asked by a lawmaker whether revoking Pakistan’s major non-NATO ally status was amongst the options being considered to deal with Islamabad, Mattis said: “I am sure it will be.”
